[Finland]

Hello together :-)

That's what I wrote after I came back from Finland:

I am in the train right now and there’s nobody around. I feel a little lonely but I think it’s a good chance to rethink the last week.

I have spend 6 amazing days in Finland and that’s mainly because of all the beautiful and nice people I met! But first I want to say something about Finland:

Finland is  extremly peaceful and a wonderful country. I have never seen so many forests and lakes. It’s a wonderful place to relax and chill. So if you want to have some time for yourself or want to escape the hectic of life go to the finnish countryside! But Finland has more to offer: Helsinki. Halsinki has some great cultural heritages and the clash between northern and eastern influences makes it extremly beautiful.

But enough about Finland let’s talk about my week:

Saturday/Sunday: We (Ninna, Mariliis and I) spent two great days in the Salminen’s summercottage. I really recommend that place because you have a lovely lake, a nice wooden cottage, a finnish saune (where I haven’t been because we forgot the time while building ships :D ) and there are even some swans around!

Monday: Visit of Soumenlinna. It’s world cultural heritage and a big fortress. We walked around the island and saw some interesting things as well as having fun. And when I talk about us I mean Ninna, Aino and me.

Tuesday: We went tot he capital of Estonia which is Tallin. We saw a lot of old buildings and a lovely city. And for sure Estonia is really cheap for shopping (in contrast to Finland).

Wednesday: The most exciting day oft he week J We went to school :D Yeah though I have got holidays I went to school VOLUNTARILY… It was great to see finnish people learn German and kinda be a part oft hat ;-) Afterwards we went to Helsinki zoo to see a moose but guess what… no moose in the zoo L :D

Thursday: Because the school day was extremly exhausting ( and a little boring except fort he German lessons) I slept in and then I had a wonderful long breakfast outside with Ninna’s mum Iina. After Ninna came back from school ( haha) We went to some Helsinki sightseeing (A MUST)

Friday: L I had to leave L A sad day but remember: no goodby just a SEE YOU LATER!!!

Okay and finally some last words about what was most important: all the people I met. It was so nice to see Vivii and Antti again (you are weirdos you two :D) and of course Markus J And  Mariliis <3 We had some great killer-moose stories and whenever I see the moustache boy I have to think about you. So you better ged oudda here! ;-) And my host family <3 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING and the nice and warm welcome!
I am so looking forward to my next trip to Finland!

[What the hell?!]

Hello together

Okay guys... It's like that: There are some groups on earth who say that 2012 will be the end of our world! Well honestly I do strongly disagree with that opinion, but they do have a point actually. I mean our world definitely seems terrible these days:

-People die because of a tsunami and the whole world is threaten by a nuclear catastrophe.
-Other parts of our world are threaten by earthquakes.
-Hunger eats up east-african hope.
-And over 80 people died in Norway because of one madman.

I see why people start believing that the end is near. But to me, it's not the world that will end our lifes. It's our stupid pursuit of more and more and more. I think we all should start thinking about what we do and what we want and how it affects others. I don't judge people who want to have a better life and who work hard for their goals but some times we should really think about the price we or others pay for all our luxury goods...

I think nobody needs two cars. You can only drive one car so why do you want a second one? Or a second house? Or a flat screen in every room of your house... Watching televison while you're on the toilet?! And how can we talk to each other while the television is following us in every room...

Well, honestly, I am a person who always wants more and more and more. So I work hard and try to do things properly to be successful in life. Consequently I as well am no perfect person but there's a part of me who wants to be caring and fair makes me think about the costs of my success. The price others pay. People I don't even know.
So this part makes me say: No! to a better cell phone because as long as my old one is still running there's no need to get a better one. No! to a large shopping-excess when my closet is too full to close it properly. No! to the car when the sun is shining and by bike it's only 10 minutes.

I know these are just little things but it's a start. And we can't success if don't even start, do we?

[Homosexuality]

Hello together :-)

I made a million viedos and in the end i decided to write something down instead of talking a lot of rubbish :D Well... Here is the story:
-> I was in class when we saw this film about Buddhism in which the dalai lama spoke about the importance of accepting others in life. So I was interested in how he would comment on homosexuality. I asked him ( haha just kidding :D I googled him) and this was what I've found:
"If someone comes to me and asks whether homosexuality is okay or not, I will ask 'What is your companion's opinion?'. If you both agree, then I think I would say 'if two males or two females voluntarily agree to have mutual satisfaction without further implication of harming others, then it is okay."                                                                                                            (from wikipedia)
Though I know this is not everything he said about this topic, I can relate to that quote quite a lot. It is really true. But I know that for exemple the catholic church says that homosexuality itself isn't a sin but to live one's homosexuality freely is a sin. I think that is really annoying because god has made me my way and I strongly believe in catholic religion as a part of my culture, my home and myself. Hence, I wondered if I am still allowed to go to church and feel like a christian....

Nevertheless, I can see people's point when they say it's abnormal and against nature. Although I don't feel like it's unnatural and I feel completely normal :) How can it be abnormal to follow your heart?

Well the thing is: Everyone has its legitimate opininon, so do I, but I am really interested in your views about that topic because of our cultural diversity and the different religions we feel connected to.

So... SHARE your opinion with me and write a comment! Every opninion is allowed and be honest! I will not love anyone less because he might be against homosexuality! I may love him even more! <3

Yours, with love, Simon

[The Belt]

Hello together :-)

First watch and enjoy ;-)

Okay :D
Now, the story: As most of you may know, Jaz was my Roomie :-) And he was a great one I swear! We had some great night-talks about almost everything! We really became close friends I think ( I hope) Well the last day he gave me his Belt ( the one I try to wear in the video :D ) and showed me how to do it. Well due to the huge amount of time in between then and now I unfortunately forgot everything (shame on my head) ... Nevertheless, the Belt is in my treasure chest of memories right now and will be a symbol for my freindship to Jaz (one of the two greatest Roomies) :D

[treasure chest of memories]

Hello together :-)

I know that I'm completly insane, but I spend my day working on this:

It's my World School treasure chest. I made it because my old box for all the memories is pretty ugly :-/ Well and now it's time to put in all the things from the old box.... but it will take time, because I will write something down here to every thing ... To kind of relive WSF2010 :-)

First thing to put inside is the following:

My World School jacket :D I had to laugh when I see it right now: It's XXL :D That's hilarious, seems like I am fat ;-)

Okay here is my story to that jacket:
It was the first day and we were too late 'cause of flying issues :-/ (that was so mean). The Yang Chung Staff gave us everything we need (and that seems to be a lot: a bag, the jacket, a box and and and). And because we Germans were too late, everyone had introduced himself. It was like: Hi I'm XY from there-and-there... ; Hi I'm YZ from there-and-there!
I am pretty sure that, at this point, I couldn't remember one single name! It was like in a daydream... I can't even remember right now who had introduced himself :D Well that was first day, four days later I knew 60 new names by head :-) <3
I think we should always remember our names, 'cause then we do remember each other. That is so important! :-)

[Japan]

Hello together

Okay today and yesterday have been horrible to me! I know that Japan is quite far away (half around the world from Germany) but since WSF2010 I know that our world is pretty small. So I was shocked and worried about Minami, Eri, Hiromi and Ali at the same time.

Well, most of WS Members were worried and skype and facebook became important for quick information and status exchange. A friend of my just said: "Imagine we were living in the middle age right now" I was like: "What do you mean" Then she explained that I wouldn't have known about that earthquake and the tsunami if we hadn't internet or quick communication opportunities!

Fortunately everyone from WS is fine, but latest News I heard that about 1.300 Japanese people died. That is horrible, and unfortunately we can't change catastrophes like this 'cause nature has it's own head! We always have to be aware of our humanity and that we are very very small in contrast to mother earth. So the thing we should do is live our lives, care for each other and help in case of emergency.

So let's all help Japan to get back to "normality" as quick as possible.

Here some impressions I've found on CNN!

[Started a new Blog :-)]

Hello together :-)

Okay this is going to be the number one of a lot ... I was just wondering how to keep all those memories about World School alive and I found a way :D Through this Blog I'm going to share my ideas, opinions and memories and I hope you'll enjoy.

Okay what shall I start with... that's hard, 'cause there are so many memories quickly poping up :-) Okay... how about a small reunion talk :D

I'm going to fly to the UK to see my lovely British girls again in april and afterwards Ninna is going to come to Germany :) And the week before my UK-Trip the finnish people from Comenius will be here <3 Oh april is going to be great!

Well I haven't seen anyone yet (hate that), 'cause I missed Jacqui when she was here in Germany ... DAMN

I made a small survey about your trips on the right side :D Check it out :-*

Love and Hugs
